Sin Is Not Fun Prohibited, but Damage to Your Created Value
Why do we never use tablets as cutting boards?
There was an ad where a granddaughter buys her grandpa a tablet.
He unwraps the gift, gets excited, thanks his granddaughter, and takes the tablet away.
A few days later, his granddaughter visits, and she sees her grandpa chopping onions on the tablet screen!
Grandpa looks at her now with a big smile and says, "Thank you for an awesome cutting board."
When we don't know the purpose, we risk misusing what's been given to us.
Many unbelievers think that sin is fun, and God is not cool because He prohibits sin. But when you read the Bible, you know that sin ruined the world.
We are not created for sin.
As the grandpa misuses the tablet, he damages it, because the screen is supposed to be touched by fingers, not by a knife.
Watching pornography damages the brain. Men are not created to see that many images of women.
The tablet will not last long as a cutting board, and it will not be able to be used as a tablet either. Sin damages who we are created to be. We are not created to sin. It doesn't fulfill us. It damages and robs us.
We are created for God, and for each other.
Recently I've been diving into the Word more than usual.
I'm trying to consume as much of it as I can because I made a goal to finish reading through the entire Bible by the end of the year.
I cannot describe to you how much inner healing I'm receiving. I have more peace. I forget about my problems. My faith is growing. I'm noticing glimpses of God's love everywhere I go, especially in other Christians.
It feels like I'm being brainwashed in a good way. It makes me believe that we are created to listen to God's words. Not only listen but to also obey, meditate and teach.
When I look back, my highlight of the day often is in the moments when I was listening to the Bible.
But [Jesus] answered, "It is written, "'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'" (Matthew 4:4, ESV)
We don't live or get our sustenance from sin. Sin only damages us, our relationships and our lives.
We get our sustenance from God, His words, and being obedient to Him.
If you're struggling with lust, forget what you're supposed to avoid. Pursue what you need to pursue. When you do that, the things you should avoid will easily fall off because they will no longer taste good.
In the coming year, I will take up a challenge to read the Bible again. If you want to join me, send me a message. It's much more fun to do it with someone.
